Apply for a Wish
What is the process?
On the part of the family, the process is simple: just complete the forms. Then our volunteers kick into action. Your forms are reviewed by our intake coordinator who then contacts the child's doctor to complete an additional form.
After receipt of the doctor's form and the forms completed by the family, the wish package is presented at the next board meeting. (These meetings occur the 2nd Monday of each month. We need your completed wish package and doctor's paperwork by the Friday prior to the meeting.) The board reviews all the documents and determines if the child is eligible for a wish. If so, they discuss the wishes of the child and determine which wish will be granted.
The wish is then assigned to a volunteer for processing. The volunteer will then contact the family and, when appropriate, the child, to confirm details of the wish and begin the planning. Often times, the anticipation of the wish gives a child in treatment something to look forward to so we do try to involve the child in the planning process. In the case of travel wishes involving trips to southern California or central Florida, there may be additional forms for the family to complete. It typically takes at least 6 weeks from the time the board approves the wish paperwork until the wish can be delivered. Non-travel wishes (shopping sprees or computers) can often be delivered more quickly.

Incomplete forms cannot be considered and will be returned to the family for completion. Also, please note that there is the opportunity to prioritize three distinctly different wishes ~ all three wishes must be included and only one may be a travel wish. We need at least 6 weeks notice, often more, to do travel wishes because of the complexity of these types of wishes.
